A few weeks ago, I found myself standing in my kitchen, staring at a to-do list that felt heavier than usual.

I had just finished hosting 20 beautiful souls for Easter dinner. Not long after, our community lost two beloved members — unexpectedly. A dear friend of mine opened up about their addiction and needed support. Another friend went through a brutal breakup and needed to lean on someone.

I hit pause. Not because I was “burnt out” or incapable... but because I was human.

I scaled back everything except the non-negotiables in my business. And I chose to prioritize what — and who — truly matters.

Then something else happened.

One afternoon, I went out for a walk — to clear my head, feel the sunshine, breathe a little deeper. But as soon as I took a step off the sidewalk of productivity, that old inner critic piped up:
“What are you doing? You can’t be walking in the middle of the day. What about the content? The outreach? The clients?”

That familiar voice, the one that ties my worth to how hard I grind, came back for a visit.

But this time, I answered back.

"No. You’re wrong. This is exactly what I need right now."

Because here's the truth — if I’m not well emotionally, mentally, physically, or spiritually... then I can’t show up for anyone — not my family, not my friends, not my clients.

We forget this sometimes, don’t we? That our business doesn’t vanish if we slow down for a minute. That our momentum doesn’t evaporate because we prioritize our well-being. That showing up for our loved ones, or even just for ourselves, is not weakness. It’s leadership. It’s legacy. It’s human.

And in case no one has told you lately:
🌱 Taking care of yourself will not break your business.
💛 Being present for life’s hardest moments is not a detour — it’s the reason we built these flexible lives to begin with.
🧩 Momentum returns. Teams carry us. Community surrounds us. And we get to pick it back up when we’re ready.

In fact, it’s in these quiet pauses — when we step back, feel, grieve, breathe — that something sacred happens.
We return to our center. We reclaim our inner peace. And from that place... we soar.

This season taught me something I’ll never forget:
Our business is not a fragile thing.
It’s a living, breathing ecosystem — and it thrives when we do.

So if you’re in a season like that right now — if life is louder than the laptop — let this be your permission slip.
Take the walk. Cry the tears. Be with your people. Rest your nervous system.

The work will be there. And you will rise again — wiser, more grounded, and with eagle wings ready to soar.

Cheers!

Grace
